| “ | thank you for the love on bandaids... tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out... even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable... but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won't feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have ❤️🩹 | ” |
—Katy Perry about bandaids | ||
"bandaids" is a song by Katy Perry, released on November 6, 2025 as a promotional single from her upcoming album, KP7. Its accompanying music video, inspired by the American horror franchise Final Destination, which she co-directed with Christian Breslauer, was released the same day.
On the primary charts for songs, "bandaids" has reached number 20 in Venezuela, number 61 in the United Kingdom, number 74 in Canada, and number 99 in Ireland, while appearing on component charts in the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and the United States.
Theme[]
This song is widely believed to be about Katy Perry calling off her engagement to Orlando Bloom. Lines in the bridge show a resemblance to the message in "Never Really Over" which was written after her first separation from Bloom after they started the relationship again.

2025[]
In November 2, reports surfaced of a soundless visualizer being displayed on the screens at one point during THE LIFETIMES TOUR shows. In the cryptic video, Katy was seen singing an unidentified song while sitting on a tree branch and cutting it with a hand saw. On November 4, she hinted at a new project on her official website by updating its design. The update featured three emojis — 🙂, 😐, and ☹️ — and included the message "how's your day?".[1] There was also an option to subscribe to her newsletter and an invitation to pre-save future projects.[2] Katy then teased the song's music video on the big screen during THE LIFETIMES TOUR show in Bologna, Italy on November 3. [3]
The next day on November 4, Katy officially announced the single, along with the release date and the cover art on all social media platforms.[4] To promote the single, Katy created a countdown on her official YouTube channel, displaying the heart image she used to promote her previous album, 143, as the hours pass and the single's official release approaches, the image shows the heart slowly breaking. Through a social media post on November 9, Katy shared her struggle with releasing the song for months, describing it as "scary to be vulnerable". She also expressed hope that the lyrics of the song would "resonate" with individuals experiencing similar challenges.[5]
On November 21, Katy confirmed in a live stream on the Chinese social network RedNote that the song would be a promotional single, serving to pave the way for the album. Not planned to be included in the final album.[6] Additionally, on November 25, Katy shared further behind the scenes footage from the music video on social media due to allegations of the usage of IA, which were debunked.[7]

Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Hand to God, I promised, I tried
There's no stone left unturned
It's not what you did, it's what you didn't
You were there, but you weren't
[Pre-Chorus]
Got so used to you letting me down
No use tryna send flowers now
Telling myself you'll change, you don't
Band-Aids over a broken heart
[Chorus]
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
[Verse 2]
On the bright side, we had good times
Nеver faked our pictures
Wе were perfect 'til we weren't
Now we've got too many splinters
[Pre-Chorus]
Got so used to you letting me down
No use tryna send flowers now
Telling myself you'll change, you don't
Band-Aids over a broken heart
[Chorus]
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
It's not that complicated (Uh-huh)
To ask me how my day is
I'm flatlining trying to save this
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
[Bridge]
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah, oh yeah
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah...
[Chorus]
Tried all the medications (All the medications)
Lowered my expectations (Oh-oh)
Made every justification (Oh)
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
Music video[]
On November 5, 2025, Katy posted a music video preview for "bandaids" on her social media, including its release date and time of 7 PM ET and 4 PM PT the following day. She co-directed the music video with Christian Breslauer.
Synopsis[]
The video opens with Katy washing dishes when suddenly her golden ring slips down the drain by accident, as she tries to retrieve it, the garbage disposal switches on, injuring her ring finger as a result. As the day go by, Katy is then shown falling from a tree, tripping on an escalator, getting electrocuted at a gas station, getting cut by a thousand pieces of glass at a coffee shop and narrowly avoiding being crushed by massive falling tree trunks, but losing her car in the process. As she tries to get back home following the train railway tracks, her foot gets stuck between them, she nearly gets crushed by a speeding train before spotting a single white daisy growing through the rocks, the sight allowed her to break free from the tracks to just fall into quicksand, slowly sinking to the bottom but managing to break free. At the end, Katy goes to a gas station and buy a cigarette and a lighter, then she lights the cigarette outside the gas station with "WOMAN'S WORLD" plays in the background, which causes a big explosion. The accident scenes in the music video mirror death scenes shown in the Final Destination films.

Trivia[]
- This is the the first song in Katy's career that is stylized in all lowercase letters.
- During the music video, Katy spots a white daisy growing through the rocks while she sings the line "the love that we made was worth it in the end", which could be a reference to her own-daughter, Daisy Bloom and the song from her album Smile, "Daisies".
- The song was released exactly 1 year, 4 months and 3 days after the release of her last lead single, "WOMAN'S WORLD".
- However with Katy's statement about the uncertainty if the song will be on her next record, "bandaids" have more in common with "Rise" and "Small Talk".
