Kitty Purry was a pet cat owned by Katy Perry. She makes a cameo in the "I Kissed a Girl" music video. Kitty Purry was also considered to be Katy's "mascot". She passed away on April 18, 2020, after Katy had owned her for 15 years.[1]
Kitty Purry's name is a pun that makes reference to the pop singer's stage name and cats, since kitty is another term for a cat and purry is a reference made to the noise a cat makes. Kitty Purry was one of Katy's two cats, the other being named Monkey.
During Katy's shows in the Hello Katy Tour, a large inflatable Kitty Purry head was onstage for decoration. During multiple songs in the California Dreams Tour, Kitty Purry; shown as a purple cat suit with a bejeweled heart and a red hairbow; comes out and dances with Katy during a cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)". She is also backstage during meet and greets to be included in photos that lucky fans get with Katy.
While Katy was on tour, Katy's brother David Hudson looked after Kitty Purry.
Kitty Purry was referenced in the smile video series of Resilient.
