Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, better knows as Katy Perry, was born in October 25, 1984 to Pentecostal pastors in Santa Barbara, she grew up on gospel music and Queen band albums making her at age 16 to put out in 2001 a rock christian album, Katy Hudson to limited success, after facing struggles and dropouts from labels for years she settle in Capitol Records where she rose to fame in 2008 with her official debut, One of the Boys, a pop rock album containing her debut single "I Kissed a Girl" and follow-up single "Hot N Cold", which reached number one and three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 respectively.

The follow up, Teenage Dream became the only album by a female artist in history to spawn five U.S. number-one singles: "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T.", and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)". Its reissue, subtitled The Complete Confection, produced the U.S. number-one single "Part of Me". The dance-inspired PRISM spawned two U.S. number-one singles, "Roar" and "Dark Horse", with their respective music videos making Katy the first artist to have multiple videos reach one billion views on Vevo and YouTube. Her following albums, Witness, Smile and 143, were released to varying critical and commercial success, on November 2026, she released her newest song, Bandaids.

Her songwriting, her image, her balance of playfulness and confidence make her the popstar we know now today, her music turns expressions of vulnerability into anthems of inclusion and self-renewal—a dynamic that has made Katy an inspirational figure not only to young women or the LGBTQ community she vocally supports, but also kids from poor communities helped by Katy and her sister's Firework Foundation.
