"Never Worn White" is a stand-alone single by Katy Perry. The song was officially released on March 4, 2020. It was later included on the deluxe edition CD of Smile.

The video teaser was uploaded to Perry's social media accounts with the caption: "You are cordially invited to the premiere of #NeverWornWhite 🤍 Join me on the @YouTube watch page tonight at 8:30pm PT and chat with me (promise not a bot! 😛) before the video premieres at 9pm PT!".

The song's music video features the debut of Perry's pregnancy with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, whom the song is also about. Perry later took to Instagram live to confirm that the song was not intended to be featured on her sixth studio album, which was released in August, around the same time of year that Perry was due to give birth; however, it was later included on the deluxe edition.

The beginning and end of the song both sample the composition "Wedding March" by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, tying into the theme of the song being about Perry and Bloom's relationship, engagement, and upcoming wedding. The title refers to the fact that although Perry had previously been married to Russell Brand, she had not worn a white dress to their wedding, so her marriage to Bloom would be the first time that she would do so. Perry released a behind the scenes look at the music video on March 11, 2020.

Lyrics[]

You love the hell out of me
And Heaven's where we could be
I've stood on the edge of love
But never took the leap
And you took my armor off
And did it delicately
And I let my guard down
To show you what's underneath

Thank God that you were man enough to come
Answer my mama's prayers
You asked the question, I said, "Yes"
But I'm scared

'Cause I've never worn white
But I wanna get it right
Yeah, I really wanna try with you
No, I've never worn white
But I'm standin' here tonight
'Cause I really wanna say "I do"
I do

See us in sixty years with a full family tree (I do)
Give my blood, sweat, and tears to reach our destiny (I do)
'Cause love is a minefield, let's take this war, baby (I do)
'Cause at the end of it all, I choose you and you choose me (I do)

Thank God I was woman enough to come
Answer your father's prayers
You asked the question
I could tell you were scared

'Cause I've never worn white
But I wanna get it right
Yeah, I really wanna try with you
No, I've never worn white
But I'm standin' here tonight
'Cause I really wanna say "I do"

Now let's dance with each other (Dance with each other)
Mixin' all of our colors
It's so easy to surrender
When you finally find forever

No, I've never worn white, no
But I really wanna try with you
Yeah, I've never worn white
But I wanna get it right
'Cause I really wanna say "I do"

'Cause I do
Oh, I do, yeah, yeah
I do
