"KP5" is the fan-name of fifth mainstream studio album by Katy Perry. This is her sixth solo studio album overall, including the Christian-gospel album, Katy Hudson. The album remains untitled, with no confirmed release date.

On May 30, 2017, Perry confirmed that she will start working on the album during Witness: The Tour. As promised, writing for the album started after the first leg of the tour when Perry was spotted with Ian Kirkpatrick. "Katy Perry and I had a session," Kirkpatrick said. "We did a couple of days and she is f—ing amazing. Before any of her artistry, Katy Perry as a person is the funniest human being I've ever met in my life. I was so surprised."[1]

During the European leg of the tour, Perry made a stop in Stockholm, Sweden where she reunited with Max Martin. It is presumed they worked together during this time.[2]

During the Oceania leg of the tour, Zedd was announced as the opening act for the show. He had previously commented on wanting to work with Perry but never having the chance. After the leg, Zedd tweeted a video of his experience and Perry is seen in the studio with him, thus confirming they have worked together. Whether this is for Perry's album, Zedd's, or a stand-alone single is up for debate.

On September 8, 2018, long-time collaborator Greg Wells was in the studio with Perry. and again on September 29th. This was confirmed through Instagram.
