The Hotel Café is a small music venue in Los Angeles, California. It is known for starting up the careers for many musical acts. It was founded by two aspiring screenwriters, Max Mamikunian and Marko Shafer in the year 2000. It started as a coffee shop, but soon became widely known as a performance base for female acoustic-based acts, like Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Priscilla Ahn, Charlotte Martin, Laura Jansen and Meiko. Since it's opening, the Hotel Café has released two albums, started it's own record label, and assembled its own "Hotel Café Tour" on March of 2008, which Katy Perry performed in.
Katy Perry has said that her first fans were the ones who came to see her acoustic performances at the Hotel Café.
